The best gaming consoles today

If you are a gaming fan, there’s no doubt you will have a console you favor above others. Now, when it comes to looking at your favorite console, it is, of course, entirely subjective. Some people enjoy more retro throwbacks, while others swear by the latest new releases. Back in the ‘90s, it was Nintendo and Sega duking it out for superiority, these days it’s Sony and Microsoft.

There is actually much more choice on the market now than ever before for those who enjoy gaming. PC gaming has taken off in a big way, and there are multiple consoles to choose from as well. And that’s before we even get to handheld and mobile gaming, which has taken the world by storm in recent years. Anyway, here are a few of the consoles we would consider the best for avid gamers.

Sony PlayStation 4 Pro

Since the original PlayStation came out, Sony has consistently been producing top quality gaming. With a focus on the authenticity and gameplay, PlayStation became a revelation in a stagnant marketplace. And, now the PlayStation 4 Pro is continuing that trend and is without a doubt the best console currently on the market. Xbox enthusiasts will no doubt be yelling at their monitors over this, but the PS4 has amazing hardware, a staggering library of games, and the PlayStation VR headset as well. It also boosts older titles, making them even more fun to play. But, as a drawback, it doesn’t have backward compatibility or a 4K Blu-Ray player.

Xbox One S

Sleek, wonderfully designed, and cutting edge, the One S is the best-looking console on the market. Some would argue it is superior to the PS4 Pro, and there is an argument to be made for that. The 4K HDR Blu-Ray player is the best on the market, and it has great backward compatibility with many older Xbox titles. However, we do worry about the fact that it cannot render games in 4K, as well as the impending release of the Xbox One X, which is sure to be superior, and a much more attractive choice.

Nintendo 3DS XL

Nintendo has always ruled the roost when it comes to handheld gaming, even way back with the Game Boy. And, they continue to be the market leaders with the marvelous Nintendo 3DS XL, the best portable gaming system on the market. It has backward compatibility, a sensational library of awesome games, stereoscopic 3D, and it’s massively kiddie-friendly as well. The only drawbacks are the fact that it’s quite large, as well as the fact that you have to buy the AC adaptor separate.

There are other excellent consoles out there that you can choose to go with. In fact, some of the more retro games consoles like the Nintendo 64, the SNES, and the Sega Mega Drive are seeing an increased surge in popularity. These consoles came out at a time when the focus was less on multimedia and much more on playing great games. However, the titles on the market today, are some of the best we’ve ever had.
