In fact, the only way that the man would be able to know that his wife hadn’t been unfaithful was through a paternity test. While he knew that this was the only way to know for sure, he was reluctant to go that far. After all, he did not voice his concerns to his wife, and he went to the doctors without her knowledge.
If she hadn’t cheated on him, she would have been devastated to learn that he thought such a thing about her. On the other hand, he needed to know the answer. As someone who has been cheated on before, he couldn’t stand the thought of it happening again.
