Everyone aboard was holding their breath for a while, and Samantha described how the entire cabin went quiet for what felt like an eternity but was probably only 30 seconds. She genuinely thought the plane might crash.
Luckily the flight attendants quickly found the source of the smoke. Turned out a thoughtless passenger had lit a match because it was too dark for him to read something. How he thought that was a wise decision is unclear, but it goes to show how weirdly some people behave up in the air.
