The Polish military has never been the strongest, but ever since the fall of the Soviet Union, the Poles have decided to build their military in order to ensure that they will never again be taken over again.
To this end, the Polish military has been one of the premier countries in sending troops on NATO missions, seeing action alongside US forces in both Afghanistan and Iraq. The Poles are terrified of a Russian invasion, and are doing everything in their power to mitigate this.
