Australia is separated from the entire rest of the world, meaning that they have to fend for themselves should any nation try to attack them.
The Australian Navy is relatively small with only 52 ships, yet the country is still able to take on the responsibility of defending several countries, such as Papua New Guinea. The 60,000 strong force may have participated in a whole bunch of NATO operations, but we will always remember them for losing a war against emus in the 1920s.
