The numbers of people going to live off the grid today are increasing. The studies suggest that it has something to do with self-reliance or because some people want to be more in touch with nature. Some people simply want to step away from society.
A founder of an off the grid community suggests that doing it has something to do with the shaky nature of social networks. There are people who feel as if society no longer provides the sense of safety that they require.
