Throughout his journey, Christopher McCandless wrote in a journey every single day. He wrote about how far he’d come, he wrote about what he saw on his journey, and he wrote to keep himself busy during the dark and cold nights.
Because of this, we know that he managed to survive around two months on the bus before he decided that he had had enough. He attempted to make his way back to normal life, but he soon found that the trail to get back to the nearest town was blocked.
