It was later discovered that de Salazar suffered from acute depression. His condition was so bad, it was presumed, that it made it hard for him to enjoy his life’s accomplishments to the fullest. But he never told anyone, dealing with the situation quietly and under the radar.
No one was aware of how much he was actually suffering. Being unhappy, the family and experts concluded that this, ultimately, was what made him leave.
