The answer to the issue wouldn’t be simple. So much water flowing over the waterfall meant that it was almost impossible to examine. The engineers knew the only way they could do their job was to somehow stop the waterfall.

It was no easy feat, but one that people were determined to make happen. It took three days, almost 28,000 tons of rock, and over 1,200 trucks to see the water stop. Amazingly, the dam worked as the water was diverted to Horseshoe Falls and American Falls ran dry. But next, they had to search it – and they had no idea what they were going to find…
