The hydroelectric station was a significant leap, but it wasn’t the final answer. It could only transfer the power 300 feet – not great when people hoped to power the entire region. That is until Nikolas Tesla came up with a new idea.

He put all of his knowledge on alternating currents to the test and found a way to transfer the power more than 20 miles away to Buffalo, New York. Today, Nikolas’ Niagara experiments are still used to carry electricity around the world.
