The dam stretched across 600 feet and was enough to hold the water for the first time in potentially thousands of years. It’s thought that water had been flowing over the cliff for around 12,000 years by then.

That meant there was plenty that could have been hiding beneath the surface that we had never seen before. Researchers moved into the area and began to examine the talus. However, there were some other findings that grabbed their attention, too.
