People have been trying to conserve Niagara Falls since the beginning of the 19th century. Many businesses rely on the waterfalls, but people didn’t want to see them get destroyed. Instead, they agreed to move the industries further downstream.
Some people believe that the industries could actually be helping to save Niagara Falls. They think that less water flowing over the waterfalls means there will be less erosion. Believe it or not, but it’s estimated that Niagara Falls erodes four-and-a-half-feet every year.
